SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Altera Corporation (NASDAQ:ALTR) today announced that Susan Wang has been elected to the programmable logic company's board of directors. Formerly the chief financial officer of Solectron Corporation, a worldwide provider of electronics manufacturing services, Wang comes to Altera with 25 years of financial management experience in the high technology industry. "Susan brings a wealth of experience to Altera," said John Daane, president, CEO, and chairman of the board and the only insider to sit on the company's eight-member board. "We are looking forward to taking full advantage of her expertise as Altera continues to expand and grow into new markets." Wang will also serve on the audit committee of the board of directors. Wang joined Solectron in 1984 and served as the company's executive vice president and chief financial officer from 1986 to 2002. Prior to Solectron, she held financial and accounting management positions at Xerox and Westvaco Corporations. A certified public accountant, Wang started her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and an MBA from the University of Connecticut. Wang was also recently appointed to the board of directors of Calpine, an electronic power generator company. Additionally, she sits on the board of Avanex, an optical component and subsystem company.
