Silvaco Acquires Simucad

2003 FSA Suppliers Expo

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 2003--Silvaco International, a leading provider of electronic design automation (EDA) tools, announced today that it has acquired the assets of Simucad Inc., a leading provider of Verilog logic and fault simulation software. Simucad was founded in 1981 and has a current user base of over 9,000 design engineers. "Simucad's solid technology, great people, and broad customer base complement Silvaco's analog product portfolio," said Dr. Ivan Pesic, CEO of Silvaco. "Silvaco's 11 offices worldwide and the E*ECAD rent-by-hour web distribution system provide Silos customers with their choice for local sales and support."

The comprehensive Silos Simulation Environment includes an IEEE 1364 compliant Verilog simulator, graphical waveform display, interactive debugging and analysis tools, project management software, and analog extensions.

Commercial Simucad customers design FPGAs, ASICs, and IP blocks using the Silos Logic Simulation Environment. Simucad is a member of the Xilinx AllianceEDA Program. Hundreds of universities license Silos as the backbone of their digital logic design curriculum. Graduate and undergraduate students receive Silos student version CDs inside their textbooks from leading publishers in seven titles with more than 50,000 copies in print.
