Renesas Technology Corp. Selects Camstar's Manufacturing System to Manage Wafer Fabrication in Japan and Singapore

Leading Semiconductor Manufacturer to Standardize on Camstar Manufacturing Execution System in Globally Dispersed Front-end and Back-end Production Facilities

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Camstar Systems, Inc, a leading provider of Enterprise Manufacturing Execution and Quality Systems, today announced that Renesas Technology Corp. selected Camstar's InSite™ for seven of its fabrication (fab) and wafer testing sites located in Japan and Singapore. In these facilities, Camstar's solution will ensure accurate and real-time collection of process data and in-depth data analysis, while enabling continuous process improvements. Mizuho Information and Research Institute (MHIR), one of the leading system integrators for the high technology automation industry in Japan and a Camstar strategic partner, will lead the multi-plant implementation and global rollout.

An existing Camstar customer, Renesas already uses Camstar’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES), InSite Semiconductor Suite, at eight of its global back-end assembly, test and packaging facilities located in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Time to market and volume are extremely critical to Renesas,” said Hisashi Imagawa, Group Manager, Manufacturing Systems Technology Department, Production Engineering Division at Renesas. “We were looking for a common standardized system that could be rolled out quickly and efficiently and provide the lowest cost of ownership. We've had an excellent relationship with Camstar for several years and always appreciated the value that Camstar's robust technology brought to our back-end manufacturing operations. Selecting Camstar’s InSite MES system for our front-end plants was a direct fit and a natural next step to combine our semiconductor manufacturing operations globally under one virtual factory. I expect our front-end fabs and wafer test sites to experience similar results so that Renesas can continue to produce high quality at high velocity, and at low costs."

"Semiconductor companies have adopted Camstar as the industry-standard Manufacturing Execution System because it helps them make better business decisions using the power of information," said Scott Toney, President and CEO of Camstar. "Camstar is confirming its leadership in this industry through dedication to the growth and advancement of our semiconductor customers in Asia and around the world. We look forward to working with Renesas to achieve its strategic manufacturing goals."
