U.S. Air Force Director of Engineering for Materiel Command Delivers Keynote Address at The MathWorks Aerospace and Defense Conference 2006Global Audience from Aerospace and Defense Companies to Gather in Reston, Virginia NATICK, Mass. - (30 May, 2006)
The sixth annual MathWorks Aerospace and Defense Conference will feature two days of application-oriented presentations and case studies, master classes, and demonstrations from MathWorks experts. Dr. Steven F. Butler, director of engineering and technical management for the U.S. Air Force Materiel Command, will deliver the keynote address titled "Engineering at the United States Air Force" on Wednesday, June 14, at 8:30 a.m. He will describe how the Air Force engineering community impacts weapon systems and command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) technologies. Dr. Butler leads the development and implementation of engineering policies and practices spanning science and technology, research, development, test and evaluation, and sustainment. He is charged with the overarching systems engineering and technical management policy and practices focused on achieving fleet operational safety, suitability, and effectiveness. Dr. Butler is highly regarded for his work in electro-optical and radar-guided weapons at the Air Force Research Laboratory. John Robb, senior manager of the air vehicle software team at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics will deliver the speech titled "Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Software Collaboration: Current Status and Future Focus" on Thursday, June 15. Mr. Robb's team at Lockheed Martin is responsible for the definition, coordination, and support of processes and tools used by over 35 different software development teams across the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program.
