QuickLogic Ultra Low-Power Eclipse II FPGAs Available in 8x8 mm Ball Grid Array Package

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 25, 2006--QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ:QUIK):

-- Small form factor critical for handheld products

-- Availability of Industrial temperature range of -40C to +100C

-- Ideal for battery powered products

QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ:QUIK), the lowest power programmable logic leader, today announced the availability of the QL8150 Eclipse II FPGA in 8x8 mm packaging. This small form factor Ball Grid Array (BGA) package is critical for small, portable applications such as smart phones, Personal Media Players (PMPs), and industrial handheld products.

The thin fine-pitch BGA (0.5mm) package has 196 balls in an 8x8 mm footprint, ideal for very small and space-constrained applications. Due to tight spacing and a lack of active cooling mechanisms, some handheld devices require semiconductor components to support the Industrial temperature range. In support of these more rugged conditions, the QL8150 8x8mm BGA was designed to support the full Industrial temperature range from -40C to +100C. This package is only available lead (Pb) free as this is in alignment with both the industry's move to remove lead from products and QuickLogic's corporate Environment, Health, and Safety direction.

"Providing our popular Eclipse II family in this small form factor packaging is another demonstration of our commitment to the handheld, portable market," said Brian Faith, Sr., Product Marketing Director at QuickLogic. "Since introducing the industry's lowest power FPGAs, we've provided complete support on all levels including packaging, Intellectual Property (IP), support for software drivers, reference designs, and development boards. IP, such as IDE, PCI, and SDIO, is fully supported with drivers for the WinCE and Linux operating systems. QuickLogic's development board, called the Mobile Application Board (MAB), is supported on the Intel PXA27x Development Platform. These support programs ensure that QuickLogic low-power FPGAs are easy to design with and integrate, and provide solutions that decrease our customer's time to market."

Availability and Pricing

QuickLogic Eclipse II products in 8x8 mm packaging are available today. The pricing for the QL8150-6PUN196C will be less than $5, in high volume quantities, by the end of 2006.
