Space Forum East to Be Held Today; European Event to Be Held Later This Year ACTEL SPACE FORUM EAST, BELTSVILLE, Md., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Following the tremendous success of the first Actel Space Forum (ASF) in Los Angeles in November 2005, Actel Corporation (NASDAQ:ACTL) today announced the expansion of this event to the East Coast. The new ASF East one-day forum provides East Coast designers of space systems with a user-group environment, focusing on a host of contemporary topics. At this event, Actel plans to provide participants with valuable knowledge from factory experts on a range of topics such as testing and qualification, user case studies, software trends, advanced packaging technology and IP cores designed for space. Additionally, attendees will obtain a status update on the quality and reliability of Actel's industry-leading field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) for space, as well as further details regarding product roadmaps, which reflect the growing needs of space designers. Actel also plans to hold the European version of its space forum during the first half of 2006. "With the large amount of positive feedback Actel received from customers after its inaugural ASF in Los Angeles, it was natural to expand ASF to the East Coast and Europe to further reach out to our global space customers," said Ken O'Neill, director of military and aerospace product marketing at Actel. "As the needs of our space customers continue to grow, ASF presents an excellent opportunity to provide updates on product roadmaps and the qualification and reliability of our industry-leading FPGAs. Additionally, it serves as an important venue for the sharing of knowledge between industry experts." Kicking off ASF East is a keynote address from Actel's president and CEO John East on Actel's role in digital systems for space flight. Technical sessions will follow on a variety of topics, including FPGA packaging for space and how to optimize designs for performance utilizing industry software tools and how to use key features found in Actel's radiation-tolerant FPGAs to achieve higher performance.
