Modelware and StarGen Demonstrate Advanced Switching Interconnect Interoperability; ASI Ecosystem Flourishes with Semiconductor IP Availability RED BANK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 23, 2005--Modelware (www.modelware.com), a leading Semiconductor Intellectual Property and design services company, and StarGen (www.StarGen.com), the leading developer of Advanced Switching Interconnect (ASI) solutions, announced the successful demonstration of interoperability between Modelware's ASI End Point IP core and StarGen's AXSys (ASI) silicon. Through simulation at the RTL level using a 4-lane ASI connection running at 10 GB/s, both the Modelware and StarGen ASI devices negotiated flawlessly through the Physical, Data Link, and Transaction layers. Both devices successfully transmitted packets and initiated PI-4 transactions to access each other's configuration registers. "This is an impressive achievement for Modelware, StarGen and ASI, notably that both devices worked right the first time," said Anthony Dalleggio, Modelware's VP of Marketing. "This provides further validation of ASI technology and proof that it is enabling the development of robust solutions with multiple vendors supporting this powerful open industry standard." About Modelware's ASI Core The Modelware ASI core is a highly scalable solution that includes the Physical, Data Link, Transaction, and Configuration space functionality. The core is designed with system-level integration in mind and supports two independently configurable data paths for hardware or software processing. In addition, the core supports all required Protocol Interfaces (PIs). Using the Modelware ASI core, system designers can develop complete ASI Endpoints, bridging ASI to other standard or proprietary interconnect technologies. About AXSys Architecture AXSys, announced by StarGen in March 2005, with initial customer samples shipped in June 2005, is the industry's first full suite of ASI compliant silicon and software that meets the performance, scalability, and flexibility demands for chip-to-chip and board-to-board interconnects in next generation compute, storage, and communication applications. The AXSys architecture is composed of a complementary family of switches, bridges, product development kits and a robust software suite. OEMs who implement the AXSys architecture are guaranteed 100% compliance to the ASI specification, full compatibility with PCI Express and future ASI SIG defined endpoints, as well as the ability to fully implement the ASI SIG fabric management standard. For more information on AXSys, please see related releases at www.stargen.com/news.
